On How to (Not) Keep Up with the News

2020 has quite literally been one for the history books. Since the beginning of the pandemic, I’ve oscillated from being glued to my television screen all day to wanting absolutely none of it, sometimes within the same week. Especially in the early days, when it seemed as if we were being bombarded with new information every single day, it was hard not to get so consumed with the news. Every press briefing brought with it some clue about the repercussions of the virus, set against the slow drumbeat of the death toll in the background.
